Politics should serve the ends of the Church, the Church cannot be made to serve the ends of politics. Politics is how siblings fight between themselves, the Church is when the Father steps in to end the fight. Politicizing the Church is like saying “Dad’s on My Side”–he’s not. He’s on the side of household harmony. And our household is the world.
Separation of Church and State is a big ol’ Non Serviam to the Church, and prodigal children that we are we get cast out into the pig slop until we decide serving isn’t so bad.
